A salve is an oil-based topical preparation. Good technique matters because water, fresh plant material and dirty tools can shorten shelf life or introduce contamination.

Start with a dry infused oil

Use fully dried calendula petals and a clean, dry jar. Cover with a stable carrier oil and infuse gently. Strain meticulously before combining the oil with cosmetic-grade beeswax.

Patch test first

Apply a small amount to intact skin and wait. Do not use on deep wounds, infected skin or unexplained rashes without professional guidance.

Pause before using

Check allergies, medicines, pregnancy, breastfeeding, age restrictions and whether symptoms need diagnosis. Stop if a reaction develops.
